Injections of a concentrated saline solution are used to obliterate spider veins on the legs. This time-tested, reasonably priced and safe technique is still the "gold standard" for telangiectasia on the legs, working better in this location than laser. There is minimal discomfort from the injection and no post-treatment recovery time other than the recommendation that the patient wear support hose for a few days.
